2008 Ohio State Championships Event Rules

 

1.                    Qualifications:

·          Must be a current member of the NBHA and have proof of membership.

 

2.                    Dress Code:

·          NBHA dress code applies.  Contestants must wear long sleeved western shirt with collar, boots, and cowboy hat in all go-rounds.  Anyone violating NBHA dress code or losing their hat will be assessed a $15.00 fee and must be paid immediately.  (FEES NOT PAID WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP)

 

3.                    General:

THIS IS A NBHA POINT SHOW

·          NBHA rules apply in all events.

·          Riders may ride more than one horse.

·          No refunds.

·          Show management reserves the right to refuse any entry.

·          Running order will be a random draw, reversed in the 2nd go. 

·          Entry must be postmarked by JUNE 25, 2008 or late penalty will be assessed.

·          Late entries will be accepted Friday, JULY 4, 2008 between 8AM–12PM

·          Late entries will be added to empty slots in random draw.

·          Youth and Senior entries require a birth date on entry form to be valid.

·          If you are not present to accept your awards OHIO NBHA cannot guarantee that you will receive them. You must make arrangements to have picked up.

·          All returned checks will be charged a $50.00 fee and NBHA membership will be barred until paid in full.

·          Must check in the holding area with the ally control manager 10 horses before you run or you will be DQ.

·          Any vet out must be received in writing at the Ohio NHBA show office no later than 14 days prior to the event beginning.  Ohio NBHA will retain the processing fee and stall fees if applicable.  70% of the entry fees paid will be returned to the entrant.

 

 

4.                    Show Format:

·          Open 4D- will have a 4D short go finals, clean slate barrel race.  Positions will be drawn.

·          Senior 3D and Youth 3D will have 1 go (positions drawn) and then all contestants go to a 3D short go finals, clean slate barrel race. Reverse order.

·          Open will take half of the finalist from the first go and half of the finalists from the second go, bumping past any horse and rider team who has already made it.  After the 1st Go, we will never go back to the 1st Go for more finalists.  It will be possible to qualify in the 2nd Go with a slower time than someone who did not qualify in the 1st Go.

·          A contestant may choose not to run in a go round, at his or her own risk.

·          The show committee determines the number of contestants who will move into the short go.

·          Participants may advance two horses to the finals per division.  If you qualify more than twice in the same division, you may choose which horses go forward.  The first two (2) horses you qualify on will not be eligible to qualify in another round in another division.

·          Knocked barrels receive a no time.

 

5.                    Short-Go:

·          Winners are determined by the fastest time in the short go, not an average.

·          This is a clean slate barrel race.

·          RANDOM DRAW (open) Youth and Seniors reverse order

·          Arena dragged after every 5 scheduled runs.

 

6.                    Payout:

·          Payout will be 7o % of the entry fees to the jackpot.  Added money will be split evenly per division.

·          Checks will be written at the show.

·          The Open will have two go-rounds and Finals.  The open class will pay one third of the total purse in each go-round and one  third of the total purse in the Finals.

·          A minimum of 5 places per division will be paid per go in Open

·          Senior and Youth –standard NBHA payout with 50%paid 1st go, 50% paid plus awards to 2nd go.

·          If not enough riders qualify in a division as monies to be paid, the money, which is unaccounted for, shall be divided equally among those who have placed in that division.  If no riders qualify in a division, the prize money for that division shall be equally divided among those riders in the other division of that class who have won prize money.

AWARD TIES WILL BE DECEDIED ON AN AVERAGE 3 RUNS FOR THE OPEN FASTEST TIME WINS.  TWO RUNS FOR YOUTH AND SENIOR FASTEST TIME WINS.
